20M QRP Fox Hunt
2022 20M Fox Hunt will begin on Thursday, June
23rd, 2022 and run through Thursday, August
25th, 2022 . There are two hunts each Thursday,
10 Foxes will be needed. Each
Fox will be scheduled for two hunts, usually separated
by several weeks.
When you log into www.k4oaq.com/fox you should see an “Admin” button at the top of the screen.
Holding your cursor over that should show several things that can be clicked, one of those being “Setup Live Mapping”.
After clicking that you should see more detail than you ever wanted to see after retiring.
Be that as it may, I, along with several other hardened FOXII, are here to help.
I currently have pgms available that allow 2 logging programs, N1MM & N3FJP’s AC Log, to do live mapping.
Kevin, W9CF, uses the linux version of TR log and has written his own program that enables him to do live logging.
If you use another logging program, just reach out & we’ll see what we can do.
Even if you don’t use a logging program, I’m open to setting up a web page that would accept log info.
Or, a simple program that runs on your PC could be setup.
I know most program of these logging s present a real challenge to people who haven’t allowed computers to take over their lives.
One of the reasons these logging programs are so difficult to setup & use is because they can do many things.
Thus, if the only thing a program does is live mapping or logging, then it can be a lot simpler.
If you’re interested in pursuing but not committing, just let me know & we can discuss offline.
three factors that are considered in selecting Foxes:
Skill-- the Fox must be able to work through a pile-up
and complete as many exchanges as possible during the
hunt. If you cannot send and receive at 20wpm
you will find it extremely difficult.
Equipment-- the ability to put a stable 5W
signal out through a good antenna, and a receiver that
has adequate sensitivity and selectivity, with at
least +/- 1KHz RIT or "split" capability.
3. Location-- we will strive for as wide a geographical distribution of Foxes as possible, consistent with the other requirements.
